Henk and Lucia Barnhoorn are longtime Voyage Hosts for Cruise Specialists.

They both originally hail from The Netherlands, and they share a passion for cruising and meeting people from around the globe. This includes all of our guests who cruise with them on a hosted cruise, as well as the locals they meet in their global travels.

The Barnhoorns’ top priorities while hosting a cruise are to be available for their Cruise Specialists clients. They make the time to meet each guest, holding “chat times” on sea days to answer questions or serve as problem solvers. On port days, the Barnhoorns meet with Cruise Specialists’ guests shortly before their exclusive tour begins, to brief them on what to expect and to help foster a sense of community on the excursion.

The Barnhoorns go out of their way to create a welcoming atmosphere for travelers new to a Cruise Specialists group. Some of the retired guests are on the cruise as single travelers, and they like knowing that the Cruise Specialists Voyage Hosts are there for them. “It is a comforting feeling for them, and it is also comforting for their families to know that we are looking out for them,” said Lucia.
